Update on UMCmarket Program

Update on UMCmarket Program

Dear Pastors, Treasurers and Finance Chairs,

Please see the communication below containing an important update on the UMCmarket program.  This program is a way for churches to generate a non-traditional income stream.  It works by processing "micro-donations" to your church based upon on-line purchases that your congregation may already be making from large retailers such as Amazon.com, Barnes & Noble and Staples.  If you have questions about how this program works, please click on the link below and watch the explanatory videos or read the "FAQ".

Sincerely,

Ross

Dear Colleagues in Ministry,

In the last few days you may have heard about some issues GCFA has been having related to our UMCmarket program. I’m writing to provide you with an update on its status.

GCFA will be announcing later this evening that the UMCmarket program has moved to www.UMCmarket.net. Moving forward, churches and other organizations can continue to participate in the program through this new site. Any churches that previously signed up for the program will be automatically enrolled at the new address.

The new site offers enhanced features for users including:
• New browser applications with improved functionality that works with all browsers.
• Automatic handling of Amazon orders. No more manual verification.
• Improved customer service with faster response time.
• A new team with marketing staff that will help educate churches on how to benefit from the program.

We apologize for the inconvenience and confusion this change may cause. We are confident that donations made through old web address, UMCmarket.org, have reached or will reach their intended United Methodist church or organization. We believe this change to UMCmarket.net will better meet the needs of our constituents and we thank the people of the United Methodist Church for their continued support of innovative donation opportunities that enable ministry in their local churches like UMCmarket.net.

In the last few days we have heard from quite a few United Methodists, who have seen real benefit from the program, asking that we get the UMCmarket system back up and running as quickly as possible. The UMCmarket program has already contributed over $49,000 to United Methodist churches and organizations and we believe it will continue to provide real support to the mission and ministry of local churches in the years to come.

Should you have any questions regarding the program or issues with the system as we go live, please contact me or Bobby Smith at blsmith@gcfa.org or 615-767-2100

Thanks,
Scott
