Jericho Walk for Justice for Immigrants

Jericho Walk for Justice for Immigrants

Board of Church & Society

The New Sanctuary Coalition of NYC has been holding "Jericho Walks" at the Federal Plaza, where an interfaith gathering peacefully circles the Plaza seven times, as did the biblical Joshua.

On Friday November 20th we invite you to join us on a Jericho Walk around 26 Federal Plaza where people are afraid to enter because they don't know if they will see their loved ones again. Every day millions of people live under fear that their families will be destroyed because of an inhumane immigration policy. When the President wanted to help he was stopped by a few misguided politicians. These are dark times when our "leaders" want to destroy us instead of protecting us.

Can you join us on this day as we pray for our fathers, mothers, brothers, sisters, and our communities that we will have the right to remain?
When:                Friday November 20th 2015 at 10:30am
Where:               26 Federal Plaza
(between Worth and Duane Sts. Take the 4, 5, 6, J, Z, N and R trains to Brooklyn bridge/ City Hall, 1,2,3,  A and C trains to Chambers St)
If you are early meet us at the Dunkin Donuts opposite the entrance of Federal Plaza and/or call me on my cell 917 566 4816.
What:              Jericho Walk, then press conference at City Hall at 11:30

If you cannot be there physically, be there in spirit by joining in this "Jericho Prayer" on Friday at 11:30 AM.

Jericho Prayer
Dear God, you are a God of love and you call us to love and to take care of each other so that we can build a society of love, peace and justice.

In this country founded on principles of liberty and justice, millions of our brothers and sisters live under unfair laws that discriminate against them. Millions of our families are divided and separated. Parents and loved ones are deported.  Every day, millions of people suffer the pain and anguish of not being able to live in dignity.
This is why we come before you today as we behold the symbols of the wall of injustice that divides us all.
We know that you are a fair God and that you have listened to our prayers.  We know that, in the fullness of time, you will bring down these walls of injustice.  We know that you will help us to soften the hearts of our government, politicians and all people so that, very soon, we can have a new immigration law that protects the dignity of all.
We pray you will give us all the Right to Remain in Justice and in Truth. Amen
