Sandy Update from Staten Island

Sandy Update from Staten Island

11/21/2012

We’ve been blessed with a lot of groups doing a lot of clean up work at Oakwood Beach and Cedar Grove, so blessed that we need some ERT-trained folks to do some more on-site assessments starting after Thanksgiving. Please let me know what days/hours you could be available to visit the areas where we’re working and speak to some homeowners.

If you haven’t been ERT-trained, I encourage you to register for a class at Bethel either this Saturday (Nov. 24) or next Saturday (Dec. 1) by going to www.nyac.com and clicking on the link for DISASTER RELIEF – you should see a link to ERT training where you can register.

There is also an immediate need for a basic apartment / room on Staten Island: Mark Pierce from the Catskill Hudson District is working as a site supervisor for Sandy recovery work and needs a place where he can sleep, cook, and shower, preferably near Tottenville. Mark brings a lot of experience from Hurricane Irene to this position.
The New York Annual Conference will pay his rent.

Please contact Pastor Matt at Bethel UMC with any leads, mattschaeffer2@verizon.net.

Peace in Christ,
Pastor Matt
