The United Methodist Publishing House has produced its first Bible translaton in its 222-year history of Methodist publishing in the U.S.  The Common English Bible has received acclaim for its interdenominational and scholarly translation using the original Hebrew, Aramaic and Greek texts.

400th Anniversary of the King James Bible

2011 marks the 400th anniversary of the King James Bible!  Three new resources in the Resource Library provide insight into the history of the KJV, including its unpopularity when it first appeared,  how the KJV played a key role in cultural changes in the past 400 years, and how the KJV continues to have influence today.

Upcoming Webnairs in Children's Ministry

Save the date!  Beginning Dec. 5, 2011 six webnairs will be available through GBOD.  Topics that follow up on the NYAC's March Children's Summit include bullying, cyberbullying and nurturing caregivers in faith formation.  Also a refresher coursein Safe Sanctuaries that could serve as an in-house training will be available.  Instructions on how you can access the webnair will be available soon through GBOD - and repeated here.

Two new titles in the Learning Center continue discussion started at the NYAC's Children's Summit: And A Child Shall Lead Us held March 25 - 26, 2011:  Teaching Godly Play: How to Mentor the Spiritual Development of Children  by Jerome W. Berryman and Formational Children's Ministry: Shaping Children Using Story, Ritual and Relationship by Ivy Beckwith.

Two New Bible Study series are available: one for youth and one from college age and up.  Exploring God's Purpose for Your Life is a six session series designed for young people seeking God's purpose for their lives.   The Faith and Practice of the Earliest Christians featuring Tony Jones looks at the life and practice of the Early Church through the late first century text, the Didache.
