400th Anniversary of the King James Bible

The influence of the King James Version on the English language and English culture is a focus of three new resources in the Resource Library.  Many phrases now common in usage first appeared in the King James Version such as at their wit's end (Psalm 107:27) ; the spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak (Matthew 26:41) and  holier than thou (Isaiah 65:5)  Hymn writers like Isaac Watts and Charles Wesley peppered their work with KJV allusions.  These three new resources provide insight into the history of the KJV, including its unpopularity when it first appeared,  how the KJV played a key role in cultural changes in the past 400 years, and how the KJV continues to carry influence today.
