Lenten Projects for Children (& Others)

A Lenten Buddy  Assign each child a Lenten buddy.    Before worship each child secretly places a Bible verse, a poem, a drawing, a treasure from a nature walk, etc... in the pew where the buddy sits.  Plan a celebration time on Palm Sunday to introduce the child and buddy.

Feeling Better Box   Students decorate a Chinese take out box.  Each student places in the box something to comfort - a Bible verse, a poem, a drawing.  The child keeps the box until s/he meets someone who needs comforting.  Prayer time can include the question, "Did anyone share a Feeling Better Box this week?"

AnyBunny for Lunch?  Each child prepares 5 brown bags decorated as bunnies (See picture below).  Fill each bag with non-perishable items for lunch during the school holidays. The lunch bags can be distributed through local food pantries: 5 bags equal one week of lunches for a child while school is on holiday. (Ideas for lunch contents: Spam,  tuna, crackers, juice box, granola bar, individual packages of dried fruit, chips ...)
