Rev. Kenny Yi
Bio: 

 

Kenny Yi is presently the District Superintendent of the Long Island West District. Rev. Yi brings to annual conference leadership an outstanding record of disciple making, church growth and mission development in his appointments. His passion for ministry is contagious. A well-known evangelist in both the United States and Korea, Kenny possesses an entrepreneurial spirit for Christian ministry utilizing skills learned in his first career in business management in South America and the United States. He has helped establish a mission in Paraguay to care for abandoned Korean Paraguayan children; a Bible college in Siberia, Russia; and a Christian village for Chinese Christians in Manchuria, China. Fluent in Spanish, Kenny majored in Spanish and economics at the Hankook University of Foreign Studies in Korea. He received the Master of Divinity degree from Drew Theological School. 

Kenny has served the New York Annual Conference as a member of the Board of Trustees and as a member of the Superintendency Committee of the former Metropolitan South District. Kenny is married to Lisa. They are the parents of Chris, who serves as Pastor of Island Park UMC; and Sandra, a registered nurse at New York Methodist Hospital in Brooklyn. Until the time of his appointment in 2009, he served as the senior pastor of two churches: New York Plainview United Methodist Church in Nassau County and the Korean United Methodist Church of Central Queens.
