NYAC Imagine No Malaria T-Shirts
The Imagine No Malaria t-shirt sold out in an astonishing 15 minutes at the annual conference last weekend.  Many people were disappointed because they wanted to use the t-shirts to kick-off their own local fundraising programs to raise money for the United Methodist effort to eradicate malaria around the world.  "Not to fear," says Ann Pearson, "more t-shirts will be on their way to all who want them!"   The cost per shirt is $7 (includes shipping).  Order as many t-shirts as you need online by going to>>

Safe Sanctuaries Updates

The General Board of Discipleship's Safe Sanctuaries website has been updated.  Get detailed information on "Getting Started" and "Updating" Safe Sanctuaries policies.  Other helpful links including
"Reporting Abuse" now includes information for young victims and a flow chart that offers clear steps to reporting abuse.
 
New this fall:  Safe Sanctuaries: The Church Responds to Abuse, Neglect and Exploitation of Older Adults by Joy Thornburg Melton will be available from The Upper Room online store in Fall 2012.  Read more>>
 
Also, the Conference on Ministry with Children 2013 will offer a full day seminar for Annual Conference leaders in Safe Sanctuaries. This will take place the week of July 22-26, 2013 in Greenville, South Carolina. Registration information will be available in September 2012.

  • Lectionary Correction for June 17:  The error is on page 233 of the Book of Worship, Year B, the "Sunday between June 12 and June 18 inclusive." The Psalm appointed for that day is listed as Psalm 20 or Psalm 72 (UMH 795). The correct citation should be Psalm 20 or Psalm 92 (UMH 811). That Sunday comes up this year on June 17, 2012.
