Pre-Retirement Seminar for Clergy and Spouses
The New York Annual Conference Board of Pensions and Health Benefits invites you to a Pre-Retirement Seminar for clergy, their spouses and lay employees (who are vested in the General Board Pension Program.)
The seminar is limited to 50 participants. (This event is full; please contact Sally Truglia to be placed on the waiting list.)
The seminar will provide an overview of the United Methodist retirement plans and the Social Security system. Ron Coleman and Mark Connor, of the General Board of Pensions and Health Benefits, will present topics relevant to your future retirement, the procedures and policies regarding your pension options, and Social Security and Medicare. They will help you find the resources and answers to your questions, such as:
- When should I retire? Can I afford to retire?
- Am I emotionally, financially, spiritually and physically ready to retire?
- How does my Housing Allowance affect my pension benefit?
- What planning do I need to do to prepare for retirement this year, in two years or in ten years? How do I apply for Social Security and Medicare?
The General Board will provide a personalized packet of information created just for you, if you call before February Friday, February 10, 2012

These seminars have been developed for you — to help you understand the necessary steps and procedures that you need to consider and plan for in anticipation of retirement — no matter when that will be.
