EMERGENCY UPDATE: Hurricane Joaquin

EMERGENCY UPDATE: Hurricane Joaquin

10/2/2015

Dear Sisters and Brothers of the New York Annual Conference,

Grace and peace to you in the precious name of Jesus Christ!

We receive the news with gratitude that Hurricane Joaquin is not expected to make landfall in the New York/Connecticut area as predicted. The National Hurricane Center has reported that Hurricane Joaquin’s trajectory is no longer directed towards the East Coast. Nevertheless there remains concern about flooding and windstorm damage.

We must now pray for the people in the Bahamas and all those who are experiencing the aftermath of this hurricane. We also pray for the people of the mid-Atlantic region of the United States as they face potentially record-breaking flooding.

We would like to assure you that our Disaster Response office, in collaboration with New York Disaster Interfaith Services and the New York Emergency Management Operation’s office, is in a state of readiness to provide an appropriate response to those who are experiencing devastation caused by the heavy rains and flooding.

If you are aware of any emergency need, please do not hesitate to contact Rev. Joseph Ewoodzie, Conference Disaster Response Coordinator by email (jewoodzie@nyac.com) or phone (914-615-2233).

Above all, let us pray for the gifts of courage, strength and wisdom for all who are impacted by this storm in any way.

“Don’t fret or worry. Instead of worrying, pray.” — Philippians 4:6

In Christ’s love,

Bishop Jane Allen Middleton
