Volunteer Coordinator, Disaster Preparedness and Response Office

Job Description:
The New York Annual conference is seeking candidates for a Volunteer Coordinator to support the disaster preparedness and response office.

Responsibilities for this role include but are not limited to:

  • Review and respond to all email and day to day communications
  • Set up and maintain the Call center
  • Update documentation as required in the call center
  • Train and support volunteers for the call center
  • Run daily reports to list online registration of volunteers
  • Create a schedule of volunteers based on emails and online registration reports
  • Distribute schedule of volunteers to the appropriate District Disaster Response Coordinator (DDRC) and/or the Early Response Team (ERT) team leader via electronic files
  • Post volunteer schedule in a clearly visible area of the office
  • Encourage local churches to provide for teams (food, lodging, church services, etc.)
  • Arrange for team housing when needed
  • Communicate to teams the location of work sites, directions to sites and location of housing
  • Keep records on number of teams, number of volunteers, number of hours worked and on which projects. This is done in cooperation with the ERT team leader
  • Create and maintain hardcopy and electronic files of all trips
  • Record and track all receipts and expenses
  • Keep current information on construction and volunteer needs

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Preferred candidates will have strong PC skills including Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills & ability to interact comfortably with individuals at all levels
  • Strong attention to detail, ability to multi-task and able to work under tight deadlines
  • Ability to solve problems independently, effectively and creatively

Requirement:

A minimum of two years of college or equivalent work experience
