The Reverend William A. Studwell

Let us Remember with thanksgiving the life of The Reverend William A. Studwell, a member of our Conference, who finished his course in faith on Sunday, January 22, 2012, in Fort Lauderdale, Florida at the age of 87. The Reverend Studwell’s ministry began after serving in the U.S. Army, 66th Division in France during World War II. After the war he graduated from Yale Divinity School and served churches in the High Ridge, Pound Ridge and Sellecks Corners charge, Kingston: Clinton Avenue, and Pleasantville, New York. From 1959 until 1965 he ministered at the Union Church in New Delhi, India, one of the interdenominational churches affiliated with the National Council of Churches. After retirement to Florida, he continued to serve as an associate pastor at the Clermont United Methodist Church, Clermont, Florida and Christ Methodist Church in Orlando, Florida.

The Reverend Studwell is survived by his wife of 38 years, Barbara; five daughters and four sons: Cherie (and David) Lazaroff of Tucson, Arizona; Kathy (and Michael) Sabino of Sherbourne, New York; Donna (and Sydney) Selden of Silver Springs, Maryland; Patricia (and Kevin) Vaughan of Granger, Indiana; Gail Robinson of Midlothian, Virginia; Tom Studwell of New York, New York; Phil Studwell of Brunswick, Maine; Clint (and Suzanne) Richmond of Brookline, Massachusetts; David (and Kathleen) Studwell of Ithaca, New York; plus nineteen grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Margaret Worley, in 1973.

A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date.
