Let us remember with thanksgiving the life and ministry of Patricia Rockwell Stacey, 78 a resident of Riberas Del Pilar, Mexico who died on May 13, 2016 after a three-year battle with cancer.
 
Patricia had been married to the Rev. Donald Stacey who served in the New York Conference. Rev. Stacey served churches in Garrsion NS Highland, Fishkill, Copake, Harpersfield, Elizaville, Red Hook, Poughkeepsie, LI Greenpoint Orient, Andrews, Fairfield and East Hampton. He also served as a chaplain at Methodist Hospital. Rev. Stacey retired in 1994 and died July 23, 1994.
 
Patricia was born May 8, 1938 in Mount Vernon, NY to Gertrude Bray and Harold Hilton. She attended Davis High School in Mount Vernon and became a registered nurse at the Westchester School of Nursing in Valhalla. She also received a bachelor's of science in sociology and psychology from Mercy College, Dobbs Ferry; studied geronotology at Columbia University, and received a master’s of education from University of Vermont, Burlington.*
 
After Rev. Stacey’s death, Patricia worked in real estate in North Ferrisborough, VT and then managed an elder-care organization near Burlington. She was an avid cross-country skier, and ornithologist and enjoyed playing bridge and cribbage.
 
In 1999, after a difficult car accident, Patricia retired to Lakeside, a group of fifteen villages that surround Mexico’s largest lake, Lake Chapala in Jalisco, Mexico. There she met her husband Gordon Alfred Cowan of Toronto at the bridge club in Riberas del Pilar. They were married in 2004. Patricia was active in the Garden Club and Orchid Society.
 
Patricia is survived by her husband, Gordon, her son Eric Rockwell and two step-grandchildren.
 
A memorial service was held on June 9, 2016 at Saint Andrew’s Anglican Church, Riberas Del Pilar.
