Let us remember the life and ministry of Rev. Benjamin Bing Kong Chiu who died while on vacation in Singapore on January 2, 2016. His most recent residence was in Oakwood, Georgia.
 
Rev. Chiu was born in 1928 in Jiangmen, China. In 1957 he graduated from Singapore Trinity Theological College. His active ministry spanned 35 years and continued in his retirement. Rev. Chiu’s service included Singapore Cantonese Methodist Church, Kampar Methodist Church in Perak, Kuala Lumpur Cantonese Methodist Church, Kuantan Methodist Church, Singapore Hakka Methodist Church and Sacramento Chinese Methodist Church. In the New York Conference, Rev. Chiu served the New York Chinese Methodist Church from 1988 until his retirement in 1993.

Rev. Chiu loved pastoral care and was also an untiring teacher, farmer, animal lover and fisherman. 
 
Survivors are his devoted and loving wife, Joyce Tin Yuk Pik, who he married in 1959; daughters and sons-in-law Samantha and Neil Shoemaker, June and Bruce Byerly, Dawn and Arthur Clode, and Laurie and Ken Mar; son Ivan Chiu; sons and daughters-in-law Joseph and Elaine Chiu, James and Anna Chiu, and Steven and YiLi Chiu; and 17 wonderful grandchildren. He is preceded in death by granddaughter Kayla Mar.
