The Costa Rica mission is about strengthening the family of Christ. We connect with children; inspire the youth; fellowship with parents and also do physical construction work. By so doing we hope:

  • To build stronger and lasting relationship with children, youth, and families.
  • To empower young teens to overcome the struggle against teen pregnancy.
  • To help improve education facilities.
  • To provide valuable school supplies and resources for school children.
  • To help build classrooms and playgrounds

This ministry offers several spiritual experiences for volunteers such as:
  • Building relationships among team members and locals
  • Sharing faith stories with and inspiring one another
  • Making a difference in someone’s life.
  • Bonding between parents and children on work site

Church Building
A basketball court was built at Santa Maria Episcopal Church to support the youth ministry of the church. This facility provides the youth of the church and the community a safe place to play and fellowship.
A beautiful construction work was done on the Methodist Church of Cairo and a new fence was placed around the church property to provide more space and safety for the church school children.

Primary School Building
Two new playgrounds were built for children in Cairo elementary school and Sector Norter elementary school. Due to the need for education opportunities a new classroom block two new classroom block are now under construction.

Although Costa Rica provides free and obligatory preschool and high school education the statistical information about school dropouts and teenage pregnancy is a serious social issue. In 1990 81% of first child births are born to adolescents. 54% of births to women under age 19 are born to single mothers.
62% of youth between 13 and 17 have tried alcohol.
In 2001, 40% of the adolescent population dropped out of high school, and 30% live in poverty.
