Ethnic Young Adults Summer Internship
Each year the General Board of Church and Society hosts a unique summer internship to nurture professional leadership for social justice advocacy, organizing and education in The United Methodist Church. Over the past 20 years, hundreds of young adult leaders have been challenged by this experience. Both church and society now benefit from their internship that combines work, and worship and life in Christian community in Washington, DC.
The New York Education Society
Do you know a United Methodist Student who needs financial assistance for college or graduate school? Help us give them some money! The New York Education Society provides financial assistance through loans and scholarships to enable UM students from the New York Annual Conference to follow their higher education dreams.

- New York Education Society Loan Fund
NYAC students attending an accredited college, university, technical, professional or graduate school may borrow $2,500 annually from the NYES to a total of $15,000 at 6% interest to be repaid over a ten year period. For an application, write to Office of Loans and Scholarships, GBHEM 1001 Nineteenth Avenue, So., Nashville, TN 37202-0871.
- New York Education Society Fellowship Program
A new program of the NYES offers scholarship assistance up to $2,500 to NYAC students attending an accredited college, university, technical, professional or graduate school. Deadline: April 20th annually.
- Conference Merit Scholarship Awards
Merit Awards, ranging from $500 to $1,000, are funded from a percentage of the UM Student Day offering and are available to NYAC students attending UM colleges or universities. Deadline: April 20th annually.
- United Methodist Foundation Annual Conference Scholars Program
Funded by the UM Foundation for Christian Higher Education one (1) $1,000 scholarship is available annually to a UM student, either an entering freshman at a UM-related school, college, or university, or a first year seminary student at a UM-related theological school. Deadline: May 1st annually.
- Office of Loans and Scholarships, General Board of Higher Education and Ministry
Additional loans and scholarships are available directly from the GBHEM in Nashville, including the new Gift of Hope: 21st Century Scholars Program through which $ 1,000 scholarships are available to UM students attending any accredited academic institution in the United States. 2 awards annually $2,500. each junior or senior level in the journalism department of an accredited college or university www.umcom.org. Contact: scholarships@umcom.org. Application due March 15.
