Stewardship Person Letter
As Stewardship Chairperson you have a very important role in the livelihood of your Church and of all its members. We hope you are committed as we are to do all we can to fulfill John Wesley's theology:
"Gain all you can Save all you can Give all you can"
Show your congregation that we care about them. Indeed we care so much that we will help them get their financial affairs in order. They will give more freely, more joyfully and more regularly!!!
Christian Stewardship:
Recognizes all life as a trust from God
Acknowledges that response is powered by the Holy Spirit
Involves Christians individually and corporately
Requires responsible management of all God-given resources
Maintains that Christians should dedicate a worthy portion of their time, abilities and money for the advancement of Christ's mission in the world through His Church.
(1964. National Council of Churches - Commission on Stewardship)
Give Freely:
"I fast twice a week; I give tithes of all that I possess" (Luke 18:12)
Give Joyfully:
"But this I say: He who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. So let each one give as he purposes in his heart, not grudgingly or of necessity; for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to make all grace abound toward you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may have an abundance for every good work." (II Corinthians 9:6-8)
Give Regularly:
"On the first day of the week let each of you lay something aside, storing up as he may prosper, that there be no collections when I come." (I Corinthians 16:2)
