Anchored in the baptismal call to lives of love, justice, and service, there are some Christians whose “gifts, evidence of God’s grace, and promise of future usefulness are affirmed by the community, and who respond to God’s call by offering themselves in leadership as ordained ministers” Discipline—301.2; see also ¶¶ 125 and 137).
The 2020 Service for Ordination and Commissioning of New York Annual Conference Deacons and Elders took place on Sunday, November 15, 2020 at 4:30pm at Bible United Methodist Church in Dix Hills, New York.
This year's service was held in person, but in accordance with our own established Covid-19 safety protocols, attendance is limited to our candidates for ordination and commissioning, working NYAC staff, and a very limited number of invited guests.
To account for those who cannot attend in person to be a part of the service, the livestream posted below was also made available for viewing on the NYAC Facebook page and also on the Bible UMC YouTube channel. Our Conference worked to created a safe, social-distanced plan for ordination that confirmed the calling of those who have been approved.
We encourage all to set aside time to watch and offer your virtual and prayerful support to this class of ordinands who have boldly stepped forward and been set apart during this unprecedented season.
