So many of our friends, neighbors and fellow Americans have lost jobs and income as a result of the Covid-19 Pandemic. To help, Bishop Bickerton has initiated a special Advent Offering for Feeding Ministries across the New York Annual Conference.
As an adjunct to this effort, we're asking all of NYAC churches to rally congregants, friends and family to walk with us on Saturday, December 11, 2021.
The goal is to assist our NYAC feeding ministries with an easy, fun, and family-focused activity that can make a big impact.
Here's how it works:
- Each participating church will set up a 5k course for participants to walk in groups of no more than five. Families and members of the same household should be encouraged to walk together.
- Non-participating church members can sponsor walking groups by donating at least $5.00; but of course, we'd love to see and will certainly accept larger donations wherever possible. Important: All participants should be encouraged to wear protective face coverings and social distance.
- It's a friendly competition, so churches are encouraged to post pictures of their socially-distanced walks to Facebook and be sure to tag the New York Annual Conference's FB page. We'll share images and use them to continue raising awareness of this coordinated fundraiser within and beyond our Conference.
All donations collected should be sent to: New York Annual Conference Emergency Food Fund for COVID-19 Emergency Food Relief.
