Commission on Archives and History

The Commission on Archives and History
acts as a catalyst
to learn from our past
and to inspire our future.
The New York Annual Conference Commission on Archives and History is made up of volunteers who come from congregations throughout the New York Annual Conference region; these individuals serve multi-year terms on the Commission on Archives and History, attend Commission meetings 3-4 times per year, and often serve as historians in their own churches and communities.
The Commission's activities are regularly updated in the Archives newsletter. Are you interested in attending a meeting or learning more about the Commission on Archives and History? Contact Chair Leslie Reyman at leslienyacarchives@hotmail.com.

Strategic Planning
The Commission on Archives and History met in November 2008 for two sessions of initial strategic planning, and met again in January 2014 to update its long-term goals.
In February 2014, the CAH adopted the following Vision Statement:
The Commission on Archives and History acts as a catalyst

In 2008, the Commission created the following Mission Statement, which is in the process of being revised:
-
The New York Annual Conference Commission on Archives and History supports the mission of the New York Annual Conference by preserving and making available the rich history of the Conference, including its agencies and local churches, celebrating our heritage and connecting our history to present ministries and future visions.
In fulfilling our mission we will:
- Preserve the official records of the New York Annual Conference
- Assist local churches in preserving their historical records
- Provide a ministry of education and interpretation about the rich heritage and history of the New York Annual Conference, and
- Carry out the provisions of the Book of Discipline related to the Commission and its purpose.
