Letter from Bishop McLee - Farewell to Evelyn Brunson; Welcome to Cheryl Fortune

Beloved NYAC Family,

This week we say farewell to Sister Evelyn Brunson, who is retiring after 15 1/2 years of dedicated and faithful service as the Administrative Assistant to the Bishop. She has undergirded the Episcopal endeavors of Bishops Lyght, Park, and myself.

I have often shared that Evelyn Brunson has trained three Bishops who are better as a result of her efforts. Sister Brunson goes with our prayers, thanksgiving and best wishes. On March 3rd, we will have the opportunity to share our appreciation as an Annual Conference community at an appreciation event. Please save the date.

As we bid farewell, we also extend a welcome to Sister Cheryl Fortune, the new Administrative Assistant to the Bishop. Sister Fortune comes to us from the New Rochelle United Methodist Church where she served as the Church Administrative Assistant. She also has a background in administrative support in the corporate sector and holds a graduate degree in publishing. Sister Fortune is a Deacon in the Baptist tradition and is deeply connected to serving Jesus Christ.

We thank God for this time of transition and for the richness of the experience. Please continue to pray for these two sisters as they enter new phases of their journeys.

All my prayers,

Bishop Martin D. McLee
