Executive Director/Chief Executive 

The United Methodist City Society is seeking an Executive Director who will serve as the chief executive officer of
a far reaching, United Methodist Church-affiliated church support and social service organization. The Executive Director is responsible for the overall operation of the organization, including planning, financial control and personnel administration. He/she administers, directs, and coordinates all activities of the City Society to carry out its objectives for the provision of ministries, work with churches, the New York Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church, and local community organizations.

Director of Camp and Retreat Programs 

Name of Organization: Five Points Mission – Camp Olmsted 

Position Title: Director, Camp and Retreat Programs   

Location: Cornwall-on-Hudson, New York

Reports to: Associate Executive Director, United Methodist City Society    

Position Summary: Camp Olmsted is seeking a Director of Camp and Retreat programs to manage both its camping and retreat programs by taking a holistic approach to oversight of both aspects of this ministry to ensure a seamless experience for all campers and retreat season guests.

In this dual role, the Director will be expected to manage two distinct areas:

Olmsted’s Summer Camping Program
During the summer this property hosts both a day camp program and an overnight camp program for children 5-14 years old. 
Olmsted’s Director of Camping and Retreat Programs provides leadership and direction to the summer programs through supervision of staff, development of program ideas, communication and engagement with parents, ensuring administrative compliance, etc. This aspect of the position requires residence on the camp property in Cornwall-on-Hudson throughout the summer. 

Olmsted’s Year-Round Retreat Program 
During the off season, Olmsted’s facilities are open to churches, faith communities, not-for-profits, family groups and others for workshops, retreats, reunions, and other large gatherings. 
Olmsted’s Director of Camping and Retreat Programs oversees all matters related to the facility’s readiness to receive groups. Responsibilities include, being in touch with prospective retreat groups; sending out reservation information; ensuring contracts are completed and insurance is secured; managing event details, coordinating on-site staff, menu development, preparing invoices, and collecting payment. This aspect of the position requires that the Director of Camp and Retreat Programs visit the property at least once a week. Working out of the main office in Manhattan (located at 475 Riverside Drive) when not on site is an option.

Grace United Methodist Church (Valley Stream, NY)
Director of Children and Youth Ministries (Part-time) 

Grace United Methodist Church in Valley Stream, New York is seeking a Director of Children and Youth Ministries. This will be a paid, part-time position of approximately 15 hours per week. This tech-savvy person will direct our Sunday School for children ages pre-K through eighth grade, currently remote via Zoom with plans to resume in-person programs soon. The director is also tasked with revitalizing our youth ministry for youth in middle and high school. In addition, this person will be responsible for directing Vacation Bible School for a week in the summer. We are looking for someone who has a strong background in the teachings of the United Methodist Church who can guide the spiritual growth of our children and youth and engage them in fellowship, educational, and mission activities.

Full-Time Director of Youth Ministry 

The full-time Director of Youth Ministry will have a passion for working with youth and their families. They will develop, schedule, and supervise the full range of ministries related to our youth in grades 7th-12th  (approx. 50 students). Furthermore, this individual will embody the mission of St. Paul UMC where we are a multi-generational congregation of loving and imperfect people. Description of Duties:

  • Coordinate/plan and lead group activities and lessons on a regular weekly schedule. This includes (but not limited to) Sunday mornings, Sunday Nights, and Wednesday nights.
  • Develop, implement, and teach age-appropriate curriculum to support and encourage the spiritual growth of students.
  • Make yourself available to the youth in a variety of ways including, but not limited to, office hours, coffee shop visits, attendance at extracurricular activities, visitation during tough times.
  • Lead a supportive Youth Ministry Team as well as recruit, train and manage a team of adult volunteers for youth activities.
  • Effectively communicate with students, parents, church staff, lay leadership, St. Paul congregation and the community as a whole via a variety of media that includes (but not limited to) email, texting apps (i.e. Remind), e-mail systems (i.e. MailChimp), Facebook, Instagram, and print media (i.e. flyers, newsletters).
  • Partner and work collaboratively with pastoral team, church staff, and lay leadership to integrate the youth ministries with St. Paul UMC as a whole.
  • Plan, implement, and maintain a budget.

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 2+ years leadership/organizational experience.
  • 3+ years volunteering or working with teenagers.

The Director of Christian Education Ministry serves as the spiritual and organizational leader for programs, activities, and fellowship for children and youth. He/She provides vision and goals for the which align with the broader mission of Jesse Lee Church and the needs of the congregation.
