The New York Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church has an open position for Receptionist - Administrative Assistant in the Office of Connectional Ministries, working directly with the Coordinator of Mission Ministries.
 
This position greets, assists and directs conference guests and inquiries whether in person, by telephone or via e-mail, coordinates hospitality, meeting room use and the conference calendar. The position assists the DCM and the Coordinator of Mission Ministries with administrative duties and special projects. 
 
As the conference receptionist, this position assists employees and conference committee members with meetings, catering, and technical equipment use. This position maintains knowledge of the conference website to assist customers with navigating online information; updates the internal telephone listings, performs periodic maintenance on the phone system, sorts and delivers mail and packages.
 
This position supports multiple supervisors and is involved with a variety of administrative and clerical duties. The AA focuses on recording and disseminating information, scheduling onsite and off-site meetings and events, travel coordination, database management, facilitating communication and performing other duties as requested. Additionally, the AA will be required to keep financial records and track receipts and expenses.
 
Applicants must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook, and have the ability to learn additional PC applications. Applicants must have excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills as well as be proficient in English grammar and composition.The position requires the ability to discern when confidentiality and discretion are required. An accommodating and friendly demeanor is essential. Knowledge of The United Methodist Church and its beliefs and missions is helpful. Applicants must have a high school diploma; an Associate’s degree is preferred. Relevant coursework in business, bookkeeping, technology and/or office administration is desirable.
 
This is a full time, non-exempt, hourly position located in the White Plains, NY.  Competitive, annual salary of $40,000 with full benefits.  Candidate must be willing to work occasional early mornings, evenings and weekend days.
