Reverend Juhye Hahn was born and raised in Seoul, Korea, where she was deeply involved in social justice and church renewal. Rev. Hahn believes silent retreats are opportunities to deepen the love of and conversations with God; it was during a silent retreat that Jesus called her to ordained ministry.
Rev. Hahn came to the United States as a US-2 Mission Intern with the General Board of Global Ministries in 1994, serving in various urban ministries in San Diego and New York City. She earned her Master of Divinity at Union Theological Seminary in 2008 and was ordained in 2013. She has served at a number of UMC Churches including East Hampton UMC, Lucien Memorial and others. While serving at First and Summerfield UMC in New Haven, Connecticut, Rev. Hahn led the church in providing sanctuary for undocumented immigrants.
Rev. Hahn spent a year on voluntary leave of absence to accompany her husband, Albert Hahn (an Elder in the New York Annual Conference) on his sabbatical. She was appointed last year to Kaaterskill United Methodist Church and East Jewett United Methodist Church.
Rev. Hahn lives in Milton, NY, where her husband Albert is appointed. They are the proud parents of two children (a 17-year-old daughter, Harim and a 21-year-old son, Peter).
