Beth Atkins Vieira
Reverend Dr. Beth Atkins Vieira, JD has always had a desire to serve others. In her call to ministry, Rev. Vieira has long focused her work on people living in poverty, the disenfranchised and brokenhearted. She is equally passionate about pastoral ministry.
It was this passion that led her to work toward four CPE credits and work as a hospital chaplain for The Christ Hospital in Cincinnati. There she completed her doctoral research, which she later taught at The Lindner Center of HOPE, where she worked with patients with severe mental illness. Her efforts significantly improved the outlook of both adolescents and adults diagnosed as vulnerable to self-harm or at risk to harm others.
Rev. Vieira has a broad range of education and professional experience. She earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Music and Pre-med from SUNY Purchase; a Juris Doctor degree from Pace University School of Law where she was a Merit Scholar; and Master of Divinity (MDiv) and Doctor of Ministry (DMin) degrees from United Theological Seminary in Dayton, Ohio.
In the course of her ministry in Ohio, Rev, Vieira served at both country churches and city churches with adults and young people, including:
- Korean-Madisonville United Methodist Church in Cincinnati, Ohio (2019-2020);
- Eaton United Methodist Church in Eaton, Ohio (2018-19);
- Felicity United Methodist Church in Felicity, Ohio (2016-18); and
- Fort Jefferson United Methodist Church in Greenville, Ohio (2015-16).
Rev. Vieira is also an ordained elder in the West Ohio Conference.
Rev. Vieira, a Cincinnati native, is very happy to be back in New York. She and her husband Rick (parents to two adult sons) are joyfully awaiting the birth of their first grandchild and are proud to have the opportunity to be helpful, active and engaged grandparents.
