James Joseph Midgley
Rev. Midgley is known for nurturing a community of faith with vibrant worship and generous outreach to the poor and broken. He promotes servant discipleship while strengthening the spiritual growth of his parishioners. He leads by modeling deep commitment, investment and involvement in ministry. In his words, he postulates that “people look for churches for many reasons. Whether you are looking to worship with us, grow more deeply in your Christian commitment, to raise your families in the vision of the Gospel of Jesus and his church, receive support and/or to get involved, know that you are welcome and will find a home in any church that I pastor.”
Rev Midgley was trained and ordained as a Catholic priest and served in that capacity within the USA and in Rome. His life’s journey into The United Methodist Church is best appreciated when he tells it verbally. He has served as a behavioral health consultant to the Connecticut Department of Children and Families. Apart from his service as a commissioned officer - chaplain to the United States Naval Reserve and a parochial vicar to several Roman Catholic churches - he has pastored Seymour UMC, Derby UMC and Ansonia UMC.
