The anti-racism training requirement was changed at the 2018 New York Annual Conference, and is now: 
The New York Annual Conference of The United Methodist Church requires the Bishop, District Superintendents, Pastors, Conference Staff, all Conference- and District-level positions, Lay Leaders (district and local), Lay Servants and Lay Ministries, Staff Parish Relations Committee Chair, and all candidates for ministry take a minimum of 10 hours of training that addresses the on-going challenge of racism each quadrennium; and that this training utilize materials and personnel offered by the church’s General Commission of Religion and Race or equivalent. 

Training days/times:
Feb 11 - 10a-6p
Feb 12 - 9a-5p
Feb 13 - 9a-12p

Attendance is FREE for people affiliated with the New York Conference  (Conference Commission on Religion & Race pays the $250 cost), however there is a $250 refundable deposit for this training. Without payment of the $250, your registration is not complete. This fee will be returned to NYAC-affiliated registrants after the completion of the training. Registrants who do not attend, or do not cancel within 2 weeks of the training will forfeit the $250.00. Please reach out to Rev.   • Limited housing IS available for registrants who request to stay on the evening of Sunday, February 10th. If you would like to arrive the evening before the training please email Sheila.Beckford@nyac-umc.com 
  • Attendance cost is $150.00 for registrants who are United Methodist from another conference. CCORR leadership is more than willing to work with you and your conference to find funding as needed. Information about the deposit is the same as in the previous bullet point, with $100 of the deposit refunded to you.
  • Attendance cost is $250.00 for registrants who are not affiliated with the United Methodist Church. We encourage all who want to participate in our trainings to register, however please note that Non-UMC affiliates will have to pay the full registration fee.

All must be present the entire time to receive credit for the training. A summary will be forwarded to the Cabinet. Contact Sheila Beckford at sheila.beckford@nyac-umc.com if your plans to attend change, as we have to pay for no-shows.
