List of Workshops

CULTURE COUNTS  Melvin Blak &  Roy Garzon   Friday and Saturday
Participants in this workshop will experience the various ways in which culture influences praise dance. Participants will learn movement and cultural styles from West Africa, Latin America, the Caribbean diaspora, and American hip-hop. The workshop leader will teach the connections between these cultural dance styles and praise dance. Participants will move to the rhythm and sound of the drum which expresses the heartbeat of the soul!
MOVE WITH PURPOSE    Rev. Dr. Leslie Duroseau.   Friday and Saturday
Dance is not all about the steps... It is a matter of the heart. In this workshop, participants will seek to incorporate meaningful and heartfelt choreography through the examination of one's own posture before the Lord!
USE WHAT YOU’VE GOT   Rev. Sheila M. Beckford   Friday and Saturday
Have you ever wanted to express yourself through dance, but were afraid...? You may have thought it was impossible due to physical limitations, lack of confidence, and/or age... ? This course will address those fears! All in all, this workshop will offer new and exciting ways to dance for the Lord; the impossible will be made possible! All ages are welcome! NO DANCE TRAINING IS NECESSARY!
WIND BENEATH MY WINGS  Martha Chapman   Friday only
Participants in this workshop will learn ways to use fabric, flags, and ribbons as tools for expressing the LIFT of the Spirit in worship, workshops, prayer groups or gatherings. No dance training is needed, just teamwork and “feeling” your partners in movement! Small groups will explore ideas; these discoveries will be shared in a “Fabric Jam” letting the Spirit move! This course will also discuss easy and inexpensive ways for participants to create their own equipment.

Registration closes 4/6/2016. Click to register now.
