Abundant Health “Day of Health” Workshops and Facilitators. Choose 4 during registration.
 
Children’s “Abundant Health” Activities — Nikki Rose and Pastor Wendy Vencuss
Participants will engage in learning upbeat children’s songs, fun movement activities, and how to create healthy snacks!
 
Community Gardens — North Haven : Faith UMC
Information on how to create a Church Community Garden and subsequently develop positive and meaningful relationships with the community will be provided.
 
“Days for Girls” Ministry — Jan Baker
Information about this vital and effective NYAC Ministry will be provided, as well as ways in which your District, Local Church, and Community can become involved. The national “Days for Girls’ Ministry has provided sustainable hygiene solutions and health education for over 800,000 women and girls around the world!
 
Drug Awareness, Addiction, and Recovery: Love Heals — Margaret Howe and Jeremy Mills
This workshop will offer education, statistics, tools, and connections to assist our churches and communities.  A quote from the workshop…”you don’t need to see the whole staircase, just take the first step”.  That quote can be for the addict and for us!  Information from the Drug Awareness Workshops completed in the Catskill Hudson District will be shared.

Emotional and Spiritual “Care Team” Opportunities — Pastor Wendy Vencuss
This interactive workshop will share ways in which NYAC “Care Teams” can offer emotional and spiritual care in local and community mission, disaster response, and other settings.

Nutrition and Healthy Eating Workshops #1 and #2 — Kevin DeEsso
This presentation will provided information on healthy eating habits, reading of labels, shopping for healthy food, and the benefits of eating well!
 
Nutrition and Healthy Eating Workshops # 3 and #4 — Cecelia Williams Nelson
This presentation will speak of healthy living, using the scriptures as our blueprint. Topics include
“What’s in Your Food” and new information on reading and understanding nutrition facts and food labeling
 
Move 2 Empower Fitness — Toni Rubio
Participants will learn and experience how ”Move 2 Empower” Inc. is partnering with the NYAC as an excellent resource for fitness, health literacy, and programming guidance!  Please wear your sneakers and be ready to move!
 
Pastoral Care Ministries — St. Johns UMC
Various forms of Pastoral Care Ministry will be shared – Pastoral Care and Counseling, Visitation Ministry, Care of the Home-Bound, Health and Wellness, and the Church and Society Ministry through the UM Women and the UM Men.  Suggestions on how to make congregations more caring communities, so that members become more Christ-like through love, compassion and care for each other in the surrounding communities and the world will be shared.
 
Seeds of Hope Seniors Ministry — Rev. C. Denise Pickett​
Information will be provided about this new local church and community ministry for seniors, which includes Health Screenings, Palliative Care Options, Healthy Eating Tips, and more!
 
Strengthening Families Program — Art Mellor
The (SFP) Program is a nationally and internationally recognized parenting and family strengthening program for high-risk and general population families.  This program significantly improves parenting skills and family relationships, reduces problem behaviors, delinquency, alcohol and drug abuse in children.  It also improves social competencies, mental wellness, and school performance.  The (SFP) program helps parents strengthen bonds with their children as they learn more effective parenting skills.
