A group of about 20-plus gather at 9:30 to 10 am to begin setting up the boxes according to family size (1 or 2 to 7 and more).  This group consists of church members, members of other houses of worship, and unaffiliated people who want to help.  A number of clients of the Pantry also join us.  And we have two waves of students from the Roscoe Central School, down the block (12 to 15 in all):  the older ones come midday to help unload the heavy boxes and produce from the truck that we drive from Montecello; middle school students come around 2, when the clients arrive, so they can carry boxes out to the cars.  They love coming and would do so, I believe, even without the Community Service credits.

Filling of the boxes lasts until about 2pm since sorting canned, frozen, dry foods and then dividing of the produce also takes hours. Sometimes we are barely ready by 2, when the clients come in; many have been waiting for several hours.

Marsha, our founder and director, always sees that there is a hot and delicious lunch for the workers, including the students who come. Some boxes are delivered. Some clients also come on Saturday morning, when Marsha and her husband are again on hand.

We are told over and over that the pantry is a life-saver. Some 100 come and we probably feed 400 plus per month.  Our area covers the Town of Rockland, so we offer food to residents of Livingston Manor as well as Roscoe.

On holidays, we provide special items (collected by the church but also from other well-wishers), and always toys and gifts for the teens as well.  Our expenses are covered by grants; we also receive many financial gifts over the year.
