Metropolitan District Lay Servant Training
Lay Servant Ministries training courses can prepare you for missions and ministries in the New York Annual Conference, improve your teaching and leadership skills, help you navigate becoming an accountable disciple,
and much more.
Entering Lay Servant Ministries is a process that typically requires approval from your pastor and Charge Conference or Church Council. However, to keep everyone safe during this unprecedented season, 2021
Lay Servant Ministries training courses will be offered virtually, via Zoom.
* Online registration is required, but we are waiving the expectation for a pastor’s signature. Instead, once registered, you must immediately inform your Pastor of your selected course. Also, in lieu of registration fee, you are encouraged to make a donation of $20 to the NYAC Emergency Food Response.
Each lay servant must be a professing member of the United Methodist Church and there are requirements for continued study in order to maintain the status of lay servant. Lay servants can serve in their local churches and beyond the local church.

Already a Certified Lay Servant? Be advised that Certified Lay Servants must take an advanced course every three years to maintain certification. Failure to do so requires you to take the Basic Course again.
