Preparing for Annual Conference – Part 3

This message is the third in a series detailing what happens at annual conference.

An exciting component of every annual conference is the celebration of the New York Annual Conference's mission work.  Last year 3,727 kits were sent to UMCOR's Mission Central in Mechanicsburg, Penn. Of that total there were 3,498 health kits, 18 sewing kits, 140 birthing kits, 64 school kits and seven layettes. The Connecticut District topped the list of donations with 1,114 health kits.

This year health kits will be collected from Wednesday through Thursday night when they will be loaded and driven to Mission Central on Friday.  Click for a list of health kit items.  Remember that that the money for toothpaste should not be put in the kits, but submitted separately as a check made payable to "NYAC" Memo: Health kits.

At the annual Mission Dinner Friday evening June 10, the Rev. John Calhoun will be the featured speaker. Rev. Calhoun was a missionary in the Ukraine and Russia and is now the mission advocate for the Northeast Jurisdiction. Learn more about John.

gLocal Mission Awards will be presented on Friday, June 10.  The deadline to apply is May 8th.  Click>> for details on how to apply and registration forms.

Learn more about what's going on in conference mission work in the Spring Newsletter from the office of the Rev. Joseph Ewoodzie, NYAC Coordinator of Missions and Outreach.
