The New York Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church (NYAC) is tasked with creating safe places where all are accepted and welcomed, connecting the needs of people to the presence of God, and transforming the world. We are conducting a search for a Treasurer and Director of Administrative Services.

The Treasurer is a major participant in financial, strategic and conference-wide planning activities. Additionally, they communicate regularly with local churches, district superintendents and conference committees on financial and general business matters and serves as the chief source of advice and information on fiscal management and the professional application of all accounting principles. The Treasurer manages and directs the activities of the conference financial accounting and reporting, administrative services, clergy & staff benefits, human resources, information technology, property management and treasury.

We are searching for a candidate who possesses proven leadership, strong supervisory, and interpersonal and communication skills; the ideal candidate will possess the ability to organize, and manage multiple priorities and projects.

They must hold a degree in accounting (a CPA or Masters in Business Administration is preferred) with a minimum of 12 years of experience in accounting and finance positions, and preferably some experience within a not-for-profit organization. They should have solid skills in building, maintaining and developing professional and support staff. Vitally important to this position is providing timely, attentive and efficient service to our customers, i.e. our clergy, lay members, staff and others.  Additionally, candidates should possess knowledge of human resource administration, health insurance and pension plan management. Experience in facilities, property management and IT is ideal.

Candidates must be willing to support and celebrate the diversity of the conference members and churches, as well as the various cultures and languages within our boundaries. We value relationships that foster accountability, excellence, and an ability to engage in open, honest, and respectful conversations.   A deep knowledge of, and commitment to, the United Methodist Church and how it functions at the local church, district, conference and general church levels is especially essential.

This full time, exempt position has a salary range of $120,000 - $125,000 and receives full health and pension benefits. The organization is based in White Plains, NY. Our office is open and fully staffed; the position is not remote or hybrid.
