Let us remember the life and ministry of the Reverend Dr. Michael Inego Nathaniel Dash, a retired Elder of the New York Conference. Rev. Dash died in Atlanta, Georgia on September 21, 2014.

Michael’s journey toward the ordained ministry began in the British Methodist Church with a License to Preach in 1955. Five years later he was a Provisional Member of the BMC. Elder’s Orders and Full Membership was offered through the Methodist Church in the Caribbean and the Americas in 1963. When he arrived in the USA in 1976, Rev. Dash became a Probationary Member of the New York Conference and a Full Member in 1978. Although he received appointments in extension ministries for the last 28 “active” years, he maintained his membership in the NYAC. “Retirement” was effective July 1, 2006, but he continued to teach at the Interdenominational Theological Center (ITC) until 2011.

Rev. Dash’s appointment history includes service at: Bronx: Woodycrest 75-79; Leave of Absence 79-80; Manhattan: Metropolitan Community Church – Associate for Outreach Centers 80-83; Extension Ministry at General Board of Discipleship 83-85; Associate Professor at ITC, Atlanta, GA 85-99; Interim Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs, ITC 99-05; and Professor at ITC 05-11.

The funeral service will be held at the Interdenominational Theological Center, 700 Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive, Atlanta, GA, tomorrow, September 25, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. A second service will be held at Linda’s church, Saints Peter and Paul Roman Catholic Church, 2560 Tilson Road, Decatur, GA, on October 11, 2014, 11:00 a.m. Rev. Dash led Bible study classes and workshops at this church. United Methodists celebrate the ecumenical spirit exemplified by Rev. Dash and a Roman Catholic parish!
