Over the years we have held Bishop Bickerton’s father in our prayers. It is with sorrow that we inform you that “Jim” has entered the church triumphant.
 
Let us remember the life and ministry of James “Jim” Bickerton, 87 of Palmetto, FL who passed away Sunday, April 2, 2023 at Manatee Memorial Hospital in Bradenton, FL.
 
Jim was born December 9, 1935 in Moundsville, WV, the son of the late Orville and Wanda Purdy Bickerton. He was a retired glass mold maker from Fostoria Glass Co., with 32 years of service. Jim also served as an attendant at Grisell Funeral Home & Crematory for 16 years. He was a member of the Calvary United Methodist Church, Moundsville, WV and the Family of God United Methodist Church, Palmetto, FL.  Jim was a diehard Pittsburgh Pirates Fan!

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Marlene and an infant daughter Kathy Jo Bickerton.

Survivors include one son:  Bishop Thomas J (Sally) Bickerton of West Harrison, NY; one daughter: Jamie Ann (Brian) Rozelle of Frederick, MD; four grandchildren: Elizabeth Bickerton (Chris) Carrubba of Charlotte, NC, T.J. (Claire) Bickerton of Media, PA, Ian Robert Edwards of Bethlehem, PA and Bruce Nicholas Edwards of Cranberry Township, PA; three great grandchildren: Holden James Carrubba, Lilly Elizabeth Bickerton and Austin Dwight Carrubba,

The family will receive friends on Thursday, April 6, 2023 from 9:30 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m. at the Family of God United Methodist Church, 5601-16th Avenue., E., Palmetto, FL 34221.

The family will also receive friends on Monday, April 10, 2023 from 5-7 p.m. at the Grisell Funeral Home & Crematory, 400 Jefferson Avenue, Moundsville, WV. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, April 11, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at Calvary United Methodist Church, 1601-1st Street, Moundsville, WV with Bishop Thomas J. Bickerton officiating assisted by Pastor Annette Carper.

Interment in Halcyon Hills Memorial Park, Sherrard, WV.

Memorial Contributions may be made to Calvary United Methodist Church or the Family of God United Methodist Church.
