Mrs. Athena M. Hagerty

Let us remember the life and ministry of Athena M. Hagerty, 75 who died on Tuesday, April 24, 2018 in Monroe, NY. Athena was the wife of Reverend William Hagerty, who is currently serving the Fosterdale United Methodist Church in Fosterdale, NY.

Athena was born in Athens, Greece on August 18, 1942. She moved to Philadelphia after high school to attend Drexel University, where she obtained a bachelor’s degree in home economics and a master’s degree in biology and dietetic sciences. She worked for 25 years as a dietician for New York State Public Services, specializing in helping people with special needs. She and her husband lived in Monroe, NY, where she enjoyed time with her daughters, gardening and helping animals.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her twin daughters, Athena and Diana; her brothers, John and Caustas; her nieces, Pennayota, Katerina and Katie; and her nephew, Dimitri.

Visitation will be from 6pm to 9pm on Friday, April 27, 2018 at the Stewart Murphy Funeral Home, 5068 Route 52, Jeffersonville, NY.  A celebration of Athena's life will take place on Saturday, April 28, 2018 at 11am at the Fosterdale UMC, Fosterdale, NY. The burial will follow immediately after the service in the church cemetery.
