Mrs. Raquel Cortizo

Let us remember with thanksgiving the life and ministry of Raquel Cortizo, 92, who died on Monday, March 22, 2021. Raquel was born on March 22, 1928.

Raquel was the widow of deceased elder Rev. Jorge J. Cortizo. Raquel and Jorge met at seminary in Cuba and were married in 1952. They immigrated to the United States in 1968, when Rev Cortizo was called to serve Immanuel First Spanish UMC in Brooklyn, a bilingual church formed by the union of two historic churches, Immanuel Swedish and First Spanish. They served there until his retirement in 1991. He died in 2012, and Raquel continued to live in Brooklyn until her death.
