Pastor Richard J. Hewitt

Let us remember with thanksgiving the life and ministry of Pastor Richard J. Hewitt, 70, of Callicoon, NY, who died on Thursday, January 10, 2019 at Catskill Regional Medical Center in Harris, NY.

The son of the late Harold and Elizabeth Flaherty Hewitt, he was born January 11, 1948 in Jersey City, NJ.

Richard was the pastor of Church on the Rock in Youngsville, NY. He had worked for the Sullivan County Meals on Wheels program, and was a former Sunday editor for the Times Herald Record in Middletown, NY. From 1991 to 1993, Richard was a part time local pastor at Narrowsburg UMC, part of the West Sullivan United Methodist Parish.

Survivors include his wife, Lucille W. Kaminski Hewitt; one daughter, Dakotah Pratt-Hewitt of Williston Park, NY; one son, Matthew Pratt-Hewitt and his wife, Pearl Tung, of Brooklyn, NY; two step-daughters, Krysia Jones of Hasbrouck, NY and Susan Furgison of Liberty, NY; one step-son, Anthony Furgison of Harris, NY; and five step-grandchildren:  Paula, Rosa, Elizabeth, Donovan, and Shane.

Graveside services and burial took place on January 14, 2019 in the Fosterdale Cemetery, Fosterdale NY.
