The Reverend James Wyrtzen

The Reverend James Wyrtzen

Let us remember with thanksgiving the life and ministry of Rev. James Wyrtzen, 79, of Carlsbad, CA who died on Sunday, December 12, 2021. James was born August 27, 1942 in Queens, NY.

James was ordained an elder in the New York Conference in June 1968. He spent most of his time in extension ministries, serving as Counselor at the American Foundation for Religion and Psychology in New York City; Executive Director of the Center for Creative Living in Allendale, NJ; Director of Training at the Blanton-Peale Graduate Institute in New York City; and Senior Staff Therapist and Director of Training & Development at the Creative Living Counseling Center. He retired in 2008.

Jim loved academia and being a part of the community at University of California-San Diego. Fittingly, he decided to donate his body to the University's Medical School.

Jim was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend to many. His sudden passing was a shock to the family. At the same time, the family finds comfort in remembering the warmth and joy he brought to a life made rich with adventure and love.

The family is currently preparing ways to celebrate and remember Jim with friends on both his native East Coast and adopted West Coast in the new year.
