Let us remember with thanksgiving the life and ministry of Rev. Robert A. Johnson, Sr. who entered the church triumphant on Thursday, March 7, 2019 at St. Peter’s Hospice Inn, Albany, NY.  Bob was born on November 20, 1938 in Brooklyn, NY, son of the late Alfred C. and Dorothy Kirchner Johnson.
 
Bob was an associate member of New York Annual Conference. He served as the pastor at churches in NY: Shady, Windham, Ashland, Hensonville-Maplecrest, and Trinity UMC, Hudson.  Bob retired in 2008.  After retirement he served from 2008 to 2018 at First United Methodist Church, Coxsackie.
 
According to his family, Bob was very compassionate.  He was always there for “everyone” and was a true “people person.” He loved spending time with his family and friends and especially with his grandsons.
 
In addition to his parents, Bob is predeceased by his beloved wife, Mildred (Millie), on April 8, 2009.  Survivors include his son, Robert Johnson, Jr; daughter, Dawn Cody and her husband, Michael; and grandsons Ryan Johnson and Aidan Cody.  He is also survived by many dear and beloved friends and parishioners.

Bob’s family will be receiving visitors at Richard’s Funeral Home, 29 Bross St, Cairo, NY, 12413 on Monday, March 11, 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm and 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm. His funeral will be held at Windham-Hensonville United Methodist Church, 5296 State Route 23, Windham, NY 12496, Tuesday, March 12, at 11:00 am.  Rev. Bonnie Snyder will be officiating.
