WANTED: Team members interested in a cultural experience assisting a local church community in Jamaica.
Golden Hill United Methodist Church is going on a mission trip to Jamaica this summer. We will travel to Mt. Osbourne Church, where some of our team participated two years ago, helping build a community hall for the church. The church continues to work on the building and we will be working toward completion of the first floor rooms. The trip will run from July 4th to July 11th at Mt. Osbourne Church in Santa Cruz (St. Elizabeth’s Parish) which is in the mountains, south of Montego Bay.
We have openings for two additional people on our mission team. This is not restricted to Golden Hill members as we have team members participating from three other churches. Team members range in age from 16 to 78.
The cost per person is $1,350 which includes air/ground transportation, lodging/food and a donation to the Mt. Osbourne Church for building materials.
The construction may include everything from finishing floors to door & window frames, hanging doors, making kitchen cupboards, plastering and plumbing. We also expect to be helping with Vacation Bible School while we are there. We are planning a day trip to an attraction like YS Falls in the surrounding area in order to experience more of Jamaica.
