Volunteer Mission Trips
United Methodist Volunteers In Mission began as a grassroots, laity-driven, short-term mission program back in the 1970's. It continues to inspire thousands of volunteers each year to go and put God’s love in action. The New York Conference supports Volunteer Mission trips in countries around the world — in places where the need for our service is welcomed. The main purpose of this short term mission ministry is to make the love of God visible, meaningful, and redemptive in the midst of human need. Volunteers are sent to develop trusting and enduring relationships that would foster partnership with the under-resourced, disenfranchised, marginalized, and oppressed in order to build hope and transformation lives.
Our volunteers and team leaders are required to take training to learn about the most effective ways of volunteering.
